Bookings, rates and deposits

By booking a session at Brickface Studio you agree to these terms. They apply at our studio in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg. Questions? Email brickfaceaudio@gmail.com or WhatsApp Ethan (084 829 6396) or Vuyani (060 180 7915).

A booking is confirmed once your 50% deposit is paid. You can also pay the full amount upfront. The balance is due before your session starts.

Audio Recording and Studio Rental: R250 (1 hour), R650 (3 hours), R1,000 (5 hours).

DJ Rehearsal: R200 (1 hour), R550 (3 hours), R800 (5 hours).

Mixing & Mastering: R500 per song.

Block bookings (prepaid bundles) are paid in full upfront, are non-refundable, and must be used within 90 days of purchase.

Cancellations, reschedules and session time

Give us 48 hours' notice and your deposit moves to a new date.

48 hours or more before your session: cancel or reschedule and your deposit carries over to a new date.

Less than 48 hours before, or a no-show: the deposit is kept. That slot could have gone to another artist.

Reschedules: one free reschedule per booking. After that, a change counts as a cancellation.

If we cancel: you choose a full refund or a free reschedule.

Your time starts at the booked time, even if you arrive late. Setup and pack-down happen inside your booked time. Overtime is R250 per hour for recording and rental, or R200 per hour for DJ rehearsal, and is only available if the room is free after your session.

Studio rules and damage: break it, you pay

Treat the room like it's yours, because for those hours it is. No drinks on or near the desk, interfaces, DJ gear or keyboards. No smoking or vaping inside the studios. Only our engineers patch, move or adjust studio gear and settings. Keep your guest list to what the room can hold; you're responsible for your guests. Leave the room as you found it.

Break it, you pay. If you or your guests damage studio equipment, furniture or the room, you pay to repair or replace it.

What it covers: damage from misuse, spills, carelessness or anything outside normal use. Normal wear and tear is on us.

How the cost is set: the repair quote or, if the item can't be fixed, the cost of a like-for-like replacement. You get a copy of the quote or invoice.

When it's due: within 7 days of us sending you the cost. Until it's settled, we won't take new bookings from you.

Your deposit: we may put your deposit toward the cost. Anything left over is still yours to pay.

Report it straight away: tell your engineer the moment something breaks. Hiding damage is treated as misuse.

Your own gear: you're responsible for instruments and equipment you bring. We're not liable for loss or damage to your belongings.

Your music is yours

You own your recordings. Brickface Studio claims no rights in your songs, performances, recordings, mixes or masters.

You keep the copyright in everything you record with us, and you decide where it goes and who earns from it.

Your files are released once your session or package is paid in full.

We only post clips of your session or music on @brickfac3 or anywhere else with your written OK (WhatsApp counts).

Features, producers and session players you bring are your agreement with them. Sort splits and permissions on your side.

Our templates, presets, chains and workflows stay ours. The sound you leave with is yours.

Your session files

We keep your session files for 90 days after your session or final delivery. After that, we delete them.

Bring a hard drive or flash drive, or we send your files by download link.

Back up your files the day you get them. Once delivered, keeping them safe is on you.

Need us to hold them longer? Ask before the 90 days are up and we'll sort it.

Want them deleted sooner? Tell us in writing and we will.

We don't release files to anyone but you, unless you tell us in writing.

Artists under 18

Young artists are welcome. Under 18, a parent or guardian books with you.

A parent or guardian must give written consent before the first session (WhatsApp or email to us). They're responsible for payment and for these terms.

Under 16: a parent, guardian or adult they nominate stays for the whole session.

No alcohol, smoking or vaping in the room when an under-18 is in session.

We collect only the details we need to book you, and the parent or guardian's contact details. We don't share them.

Posting an under-18 artist on social media needs the parent or guardian's written OK.
